Michael Mormecha Live At Teach Ceoil

A few nights back Janie and I are sitting on the sofa and she says “we should organise another Teach Ceoil for when our friends are coming over from Scotland”

“aye, good idea” says I. “Who do you think”?

“What about Mike”? Said Janie

“We’ve no chance, Mikes in Germany with his band Preyrs and is busy touring their new album for Pelagic Records plus he’ll be gigging with Trú soon, also and he’s producing other artists in his studio all the time and he doesn’t do solo shows, we’ve no chance”? I say.

“Sure ask him anyway”

So I send him a message and he agreed the next day. If you don’t ask you don’t get.

Michael Mormecha is a multi-instrumentalist producer from Ireland known for his expressive, genre-fluid approach to songwriting and sound. No stranger to the Lurgan area for his work with The Bonnevilles and Malojian, he has also worked extensively with artists including Trú, Mojo Fury and a range of other Irish and international acts. In 2026, he returns to the stage for a run of intimate solo shows, performing in between touring with Preyrs, his new band with Amy Montgomery who have recently signed with Pelagic Records.

Mike is one of the greats and the fact that he’s agreed to his first time solo gig at Teach Ceoil on the 21st of February is a real coup for us.
